Hassan Haleem

Hassan’s dream came with enormous help from Hassan Haleem’s own brother (Dhombe), he began his line of businesses immediately after completing his education in 1992. Hassan’s initial venture into the business world was marked by the opening of a vehicle spare parts shop named “Handy Hard” and a service facility called “Handy Hard Service Centre” in 2 of the locations in Malé.

Hassan’s initial business venture proved highly successful due to his unique insight of doing business, willingness to take risks combined with skills and determination to be successful in everything he embarks upon. His entrepreneurial skills and business development concepts extremely effective against the competition and sharp improvement in the performance of his outlets resulted in the opening of two additional shops. in 1999 Hassan established Handy Home for household and utility products and within two years, three more shops were opened, i.e. “Baby Land”, “Handy Toys” - the first ever exclusive children’s toyshop in the Maldives and “Total” - an electronics retail shop. Furthermore, in order to be at the forefront of the retail business, he strategically opened a few more shops, namely, “Handy Plus” - sanitary ware, “Handy Style” - furniture and household items, “Handy Star” - Lights and electricals.

In 2004, “Handy Holdings” was formed and all his businesses were tactfully incorporated under this umbrella. “Handy Holdings”, poured its profits from its trading operations into travel and tourism ventures. “Handy Marine” and “Handy Travels” was established, with initial purchase of two speedboats for transferring guests.

in 2008, “Handy Trading Pte. Ltd” was established and the trade name “Handy Warehouse” is used to market and distribute its building and construction materials. Hassan Ventured into the production industry under the name “Handy Bricks”, a factory was set up with vigilant well designed infrastructure at Thilafushi Island, which supplies the cement bricks to construction market in the Maldives.

Moreover, for strategic reasons, “Handy Global” Pte Ltd was registered in China. The primary objective and purpose of establishing this private limited company was to act as a freight forwarder worldwide

Hassan did not stop at this, in 2008 his dream scheme came to reality and now operates Handy Cruise, a luxury Liveaboard which sails gracefully in the crystal clear waters of the Maldives, with 11 luxurious cabins that accommodates up to 25 guests.

Hassan’s next big venture was into the manufacturing industry. He established “Handy Industries”. Hassan, with support from his family and friends opened the first, 100% Maldivian owned drinking water production and bottling factory in Hulhumale. He aptly named it, Handy Water. Now one of the most renowned brands in the industry, Handy Water pledges to be eco-friendly.

In 2015, Hassan acquired a landing craft, adding to his fleet of marine vessels. Named “Handy Carrier”,

In 2016, Hassan, in a move to expand his investment into the tourism sector, acquired a second luxury liveaboard. “Handy Blues” is a 16 room luxury live-aboard cruise vessel.

In 2018, Hassan found himself once again venturing into a new business venture, establishing “Handy Cold Storage Facilities”. With business partner Faris, Hassan built and developed more than 20 cold storage units.

By no means is Hassan done growing his business, exciting new projects and innovations are on the horizon.

Hassan’s ability to see opportunities that others don’t and boldly go for it differentiates him from a typical business executive. Hassan is a maverick and a trendsetter with vast knowledge of the present market demand and diversifies business according to the trend at the time.

Hassan believes that the greatest asset and strength of his organization is its people and his team is his greatest competitive advantage. He dedicates success to his family, staff and friends.

Inspiration comes with motivation
